MY STORY & PHILOSOPHY
I am educated as a teacher and textile fashion designer. Worked in the fashion industry for many years. But the serious consequences on our health, our planet, and on garment workers’ lives made me less and less happy. I wanted to create with my hands and make products with some love in a smaller loop. I studied ceramics for 3 years in Gouda.
Of course my love for textile never faded. So still like to use textures in my clay and love to dye textiles with natural indigo.
These days I love to design and make everything in Amsterdam. For on and around the table. Making products people can use in daily life.
In my studio I use different kind of pottery techniques to make my ceramics. I use the pottery wheel but also make my own moulds. I develop my own glazes. I love to make small series or unique items. Each item will be slightly different from the other and will have the handmade look. I also do commission work.
Whatever when it gives me joy to make it.
CRAFT AS A PASSION
I have a big love for all kind of techniques in different materials and cultures. I like to understand and to practise these and translate them into my own work.
At this moment we need to cherish the old crafts and give them a new life. So we can surrender us with all kind of products we love.
I love the beach, the sea and the sun. The sound of the waves. The sun that reflects in the ocean. The stillness of the sea. I love to walk there with my dog. To take some waves with my longboard. And enjoy life!
let's cherish our planet
